Wow...the last time I updated this website was back in FEBRUARY!? Where the heck have I been in that time?
In short, I kinda just got more of a life, haha! I met someone who I'm now in a relationship with, I got back into playing the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game and I kinda got addicted to the video game Balatro. This website was always in the back of my mind but I never really made the time to update it.
So with that being said, let's talk about some things regarding this website, what's happened since I've been inactive and some cool things that may be coming up!
Well for one thing, the site's design has updated for the fourth time since its inception back in October 2022. This design is similar in some ways to the previous website's design, but I've changed it up a bit to make it a bit more mobile-friendly (there's still some imperfections, but I'm working on it!). I also changed the colour theme from the navy-blue look it had before into something that uses the Nord Theme colours as it's what I've been using for my computer's theme for the entirety of this year.
I much prefer this colour scheme. It's a bit brighter and looks less depressing than the last website. It also makes the wiki section of my site look a lot cleaner.
Oh yeah, did I ever mention I have a wiki for my projects? (turns out I have on another blog, oops) It's not really a true "Wiki" in the sense that it can't be edited by anyone who wants to. More accurately it's a list of Wikipedia-styled articles on my projects, so if you want to know more about them you can!
They don't have a dedicated "section" to them yet as of time of writing, so to access them you have to go to the Sitemap.
I have these up mainly because I like reading wikipedia, but also I just want somewhere I can babble about each project in more detail.
Time for something not fun. Back in August, while reinstalling Linux on my computer I somehow accidentally wiped all of the contents off of my main hard drive, I thought I was being very careful but apparently not careful enough.
As odd as it seems to say, generally I wouldn't mind this as I don't use a lot of things on my computer and generally if it's important I will save it to another hard drive specifically used for storage. However the one that I wiped had something on it that deeply saddens me to lose, my FL Studio project files. This includes all of the files for Wing It! and Inktober '23 as well as most of the project files from Last Day to Thrive, as the last backup I had only went as far back as December 11th, 2022.
This is particularly devastating as I was in the middle of working on a remake for Inktober '23 and I was using those original project files as blueprints for the remakes. With those now gone I will have to do it all from memory and/or re-listening to everything over and over again to make sure all of the notes are correct. As it stands right now, I am soft cancelling the remake, but I may redo some of the songs later for different albums, or perhaps I will just bite the bullet and remake everything from scratch anyway.
THANKFULLY, while 99% of what I made is gone, I discovered that I had backups of some of the songs on my phone and I compiled those into a project called This Is Not Lostwave, so two versions of the song Aimless Wandering from Inktober '23 (which was most of what I had remade anyway) are available to hear! I actually have a few more versions of the song that were unfinished and a slightly edited version of the Chains section from The Weight of Expectations. I have yet to upload these but I do have them and I will upload them in the new year!
As I've gotten back into Yu-Gi-Oh and I may also be returning to speedrunning next year, I imagine I will spend less time on music and more time on those things. I may even make another section of the site entirely dedicated to those things, or I'll launch new websites for each of those things? Not sure yet!
But most of all, I really want to get back to making music, I made barely anything this year and I'm still yearning for it.
I also do want to work more on the Prog List, but it's looking more and more every day that I will simply never have the time to finish it. I may work on it slowly in the background of everything else, but not yet.
Right, I'm off to Lincolnshire for two months to spend Christmas with my partner, I will periodically update the site as I notice errors in the chaos of the redesign. Happy new year everyone!
